Office & Operations Manager
Bio
Yvette M. Lucas has been called to serve as the Office & Operations Manager at Urban
Christian Ministries (UCM), bringing a lifetime of professional virtue and a heart for
stewardship to the organization. In this role, she designs and implements vital administrative
and operational systems, while keeping internal tracking systems that support UCM’s
programs, staff, donors and volunteers. In addition to overseeing daily operations, she ensures
the ministry functions with integrity and excellence by maintaining compliance, upholding
safety standards, and overseeing proper records management in support of the organization’s
work within the community.
A proud Buffalo, New York native, Yvette, has devoted her life’s work to serving the Western
New York Community. Her journey in service began in 1996 and reflects a steadfast
commitment to uplifting individuals and strengthening organizations that support and
empower families and communities.
Throughout her career in the nonprofit and healthcare sectors, Yvette has faithfully served in
leadership and administrative roles, managing, supervising, while utilizing plethora of skills,
techniques and strategies, via education and experience at organizations including Endeavor
Health Services, UBMD Pediatrics, HealthNow New York (Highmark), and Buffalo Adolescent
Pregnancy Prevention Services. Her work has consistently been guided by a spirit of
compassion, stewardship, and dedication to improving the lives of others.
At WNY Independent Living, Inc., she coordinated community outreach events and fundraisers,
developing strategic planning tools and mobilizing volunteers to advance the organization’s
mission. While serving Bethel Head Start as Facilities Supervisor, she ensured multiple
facilities remained in compliance through careful monitoring, evaluation and reporting, and
provided leadership to maintenance staff and supported financial operations by assisting
accountants with payroll and other tasks.
Yvette’s foundation in public service began earlier in her career as a legislative aide,
performing clerical functions by formulating constituent correspondence, administratively
supporting election campaigns and providing public speaking, while representing the Council
President of the Buffalo Common Council, the late George K. Arthur, serving from 1990 until
his retirement in 1995. During this time, she gained invaluable insight into local government
and developed a deep understanding of how public service can be used as a powerful tool for
community advocacy and positive change.
Grounded in faith and guided by a heart for service, Yvette continues to dedicate her
professional gifts to strengthening organizations and empowering the communities they
serve. Yvette’s life is defined by the discipline of a veteran (Air Force National Guard), where
she initially began a clerical/administrative journey and eventually, was the catapult to the
vision of an entrepreneur. As the founder of As It Is Written, which provides documentation
development and consultation to local small businesses, helping others in pursuit of their own
callings.
A devoted mother of two adult sons, and a new granddaughter; she is also a committed
member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. While serving on the ministerial staff and
the pastor’s executive administrative team, she also makes time to pour her love into the lives
of the youth, as well as teaching them The Word of God. Having lost parental guidance at age
27, she trusted in own abilities. Her path has not been without difficult trials, but she learned
that a relationship with God would ignite her ability to view her challenges through the lens of
faith, not fear…leaning not on her own understanding, but acknowledge and trust fully in the
Lord, God Almighty. This "warrior spirit" fueled her academic journey, leading her to return to
school in 2007 to earn her associate’s degree magna cum laude, followed by a Bachelor of
Business Administration.
“I believe I have found the perfect assignment here at UCM,” Yvette shares. “Advocacy is a
sacred duty, especially when working to sever the ties that impede our community. Through
every experience, trial and opportunity, God has purposefully prepared me to be a divine
blessing in this role. I am excited to partner with UCM’s leadership to carry out our mission and
expand the vision for His glory.”
